I'm a little surprised. Is this a case of talk-the-talk, but don't walk-the-walk, or is there a consensus in academe that wikis are fine for teaching K–12 and college courses, but don't really cut it when doing research? Or, is it because wikis are still fairly new and it's going to take a generation to take hold? Sorry for all the questions. I just don't have any answers.
ReplyDeleteMy take is that in academia wiki's have been adapted for collaborative endeavors on a small scale rather than a Wikipedia-esque experience. Not sure why, just a hunch.
